Cody is the AI coding assistant from Sourcegraph, using Sourcegraph’s code intelligence and search platform to provide deep codebase awareness across very large repositories. Cody offers chat, autocomplete, and agentic features inside VS Code, JetBrains, and the web, with retrieval grounded in Sourcegraph’s index of the customer’s full codebase. Cody emphasizes enterprise features, on-prem deployment, code-aware context, model choice, and audit logs.
Sourcegraph ended Cody Free and Cody Pro and removed Cody from its Enterprise Starter plan: new signups closed on June 25, 2025 and access ended on July 23, 2025. Cody Enterprise is still supported. Sourcegraph pointed former Cody Free and Pro users to Amp, the agentic coding tool it introduced as their replacement.
