Researcher is a deep research agent inside Microsoft 365 Copilot that performs multi-step research combining public web data with the user’s internal organizational data (emails, documents, meetings, Teams chats) to produce broad research reports grounded in both external and proprietary context. It uses Microsoft’s reasoning models and respects organizational permissions through Microsoft Graph. Researcher represents Microsoft’s competitive answer to OpenAI and Google deep research, with the unique advantage of secure access to enterprise data.
