GPT Researcher is an open-source autonomous research agent inspired by AutoGPT and the original Plan-and-Solve paradigm. It performs broad web research on a topic by generating sub-questions, searching independently, gathering information from many sources, and synthesizing detailed reports with citations. GPT Researcher supports multiple LLM providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama), custom search APIs (Tavily, Serper, DuckDuckGo), and outputs in markdown, PDF, or DOCX. It powers the open-source ecosystem for self-hosted research agents.
